What is a perfect timetable for UPSC CSE aspiriants?

While writing this answer, I am assuming that you have no prior knowledge of the subjects asked in UPSC. Hence, I’ll start from the scratch.

The syllabus for UPSC can be divided into 2 parts:

1. Static part
2. Current part

Till 2013, the weightage of the static part was much more than the current portion. From 2013 till 2015, the weightage of current affairs was almost equivalent to the static part (it means, the weightage of current affairs was increased significantly). Since 2016, the UPSC has started amalgamating the questions.

Earlier it was easier to identify the demarcation between the questions from static and current part. However, starting 2016, this differentiation has become a bit difficult.

Why? What is different ?

In a single question, UPSC is testing your static as well your current skills. This is what I call amalgamation.

So, what needs to be done ?

Owing to this amalgamation, every static subject should be read in conjunction with the current part. For example- if you are reading about plate tectonic theory or climatology in geography, then try and associate it with earthquakes and volcanoes generated due to plate movement or connect the wind movement with the hurricanes and cyclones. Every static part need to be read in conjunction with the current part.

Now, after having gone through the mindset of the examiner, we would target the resources that are required to beat the competition. I’ll deal with the resources for static and current part separately.
